Hi guys, I'm at it again - due to a number of frosty nights this week that reduced my motivation to go out to my workshop and work on my "big" aeroplane (fitting anchor nuts in near zero degrees conditions isnt a good thing...) I managed to get a lot done on my 1/72 Kiwi Resins Auster J5. This is only my second resin kit, and I'm still fine tuning the appropriate techniques (such as working tidily with super glue - nearly had an Auster permanently attached to my fingers!) but considering the small size of the kit in 1/72 (the thing is less than 4 inches long!) I'm pretty pleased with the results. This is the first of Dave Lochead's kits that I have got around to making so far, and apart from the resin learning curve, I have to say that the kit is great. Having made the Airfix Auster Antarctic, this one is way better. In this case I actually built up the cockpit interior framework etc, as this is very obvious, but the general detailing is way better, with only minimal filler required anywhere. Awesome - I have ordered some Vincent / Vildebeest kits which are aparently even better - I cant wait!(these at least should be a decent size!) I chose the 3 Sqn Army co-Op scheme of NZ1702, although the silver and Fluorescent scheme was considered at one time. Decals are C type roundels from the bits box (Tiger Moth I think) with Inkjet printed serials and Army Titles.
If it was supposed to be easy. everyone would be doing it...
