Anyone know if the underside of the horizontal stabiliser (tailplanes) on RNZAF P-40N's painted in the US army Olive drab scheme were white (like the tail) or neutral grey (like the underside of the wings)
The aircraft in question Gloria jean from the Aeromaster sheet. The pcitures provided are unclear.
Thanks

P-40N NZ3148 Gloria definitely had white undersurfaces to the tailplane - it shows up clearly in Charles Darby's "RNZAF the First Decade" (Which I have borrowed from Dave) page 72. the edge of the white area is about 4" below the tailplane, and the underside is definitely white. Other pictures in the book confirm this is normal for most olive drab / Green P40s.

Yeah that will be the one - its got a great selection of P40 pictures, should be very useful to you. Sounds like it'll be a nice model.

It is indeed with a coloured photo of P-40's on the cover.
One of the best books around on the wartime RNZAF, a must have. And written by a true respected expert.
I must get my copy back soon.
