What were the pistols that the RNZAF aircrew in the pacific were issued with in WWII?
Were they the Colt 45 semi automatic? The Webley revolver?
Both?
Any details welcome, thanks.

Dad carried three… the issue revolver and 2 automatics that he picked up in San Francisco on his way back from Canada… he had those 2 pistols hidden away for many many years and only got rid of them - to Elios Gunshop in Dunedin, for a bloody pittance! - in the mid 90s!!

Although he is holding a luger, his webbing is standard RAF 1937 pattern with a holster designed for a .38 Enfield No.2 Revolver. The RNZAF largely used the Smith and Wesson .38 revolver as they were more readily available. I carried such a rig during and exercise at Tekapo in 1967
