Hi All, A question came up on another Forum about 75 Squadron TAF Mosquitoes wearing the HSS (High Speed Silver) Scheme with added D-Day type stripes on wings and fuselage. Having seen a number of Air Force Museum photos, none have ever appeared in this scheme (doesn't mean one didn't). Can anyone shed any light on this? I asked the poster for a source and he simply said it was on Social media??? I know at least some were WWII veterans - possible one could have been dressed up to commemorate the likes of D-Day? Curiosity is getting the better of this cat Thanks Alan

Probably referring to NZ2308 which has just had an engine run in a silver plus D-Day stripes scheme.

75 Squadron was never a Territorial Squadron, so that part shoud be removed from this question right now! I would tend to agree with ErrolC.

Alan, the D-Day stripes being worn by NZ2308 now, as ZK-PWL, are at the insistence of the owners who want the stripes. The rest of the scheme is as how NZ2308 would have looked, although I am not sure if the code letters would have been red, rather than black. That is possibly also licence by the owners.
As they say, when you own a Mosquito, feel free to paint it how you want it too.

Seems like people of little knowledge and/or great aspirations getting everything mixed up in a regular dogs' breakfast to me. I would tend to agree with ErrolC. Hi DavidD, Apologies, removed TAF, I would like to think I'm not one of those little knowledge people Thanks Alan

I agree about the Red Codes, should be black, and the D-Day stripes well as you say when you own it.......... Thanks/regards Alan

I did an RC model in what I believe would have been the scheme on John Smiths Mosi when he obtained it from the RNZAF, I guess this is as good a place to ask if this is pretty close to accurate? Thanks you....... PS minus the guns......
