The name of that terrorist leader cracked me up too much.
JETS ATTACK TERRORISTS
R.N.Z.A.F. In Malaya
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 16.
Venom jet fighters of the Royal New Zealand Air Force’s No. 14 Fighter Squadron were in action against terrorists in Malaya at the week-end, said a message received at Royal New Zealand Air Force Headquarters in Wellington tonight.
The terrorists are members of the notorious No. 3 platoon, whose leader, Tang Fuk Loong and four of his comrades were killed in a bombing attack in May. The survivors have split up into several parties and are being kept on the run by ground troops and jet fighters.
Ground security forces believe that this terrorist group is responsible for many ambushes, murders, and acts of intimidation in the area.
The terrorist hideout was discovered last week by a patrol of the 7th Battalion, Malay Regiment.
Yesterday, the Venoms carried out attacks on the terrorists. During the morning two separate strikes were led by Flight Lieutenant S. Mclntyre and Flying Officer I. Ferguson, both of Wellington. For Pilot Officer S. Gillingham, of Gisborne, the operation was the first attack in which he has taken part since he arrived in Singapore in May. On Saturday, Pilot Office R. Lowry, of Christchurch, also made his first strike at the enemy.
