Newcastle Airshow and RAAF Williamtown Airshow 2023

From a photography perspective this was probably the best airshow I've attended in Australia. Light in the afternoon was behind you and being in the Fort Scratchy (gold pass) area gave you some good evaluation.

The flying displays from the host of RAAF aircraft were excellent . Highlights being the P-8 and Superhornet, Plus the RAAF heritage flight's first (IIRC) outing. The open dauy a the base was good and I was super impressed with how positive all the RAAF personnel were. I guess that they all volunteered to work those days helps.

Awesome shots! That P51 F35 formation one especially. Agree with you was a terrific show. I’m really happy spent the $ on the Nobbys pass too. As aside I read the F35 display pilot Bunga did his last display at the Illawarra show last weekend. His displays have been impressive and will see how the next guy/gal evolves the display.

McMaster, Correct, "Bunga" - now Sqn Ldr Bowman - did undertake his last display flight in the F.35 last Sunday. It was a strange collision of events on Sunday. It marked Bunga's last display flight but...Bunga performed his first F.35 display flight at Wings over Illawarra (now Airshows Downunder Shellharbour so appropriate. Also, the year Bunga flew his first F.35 demo flight was also the year that Grp Captain Jason Easthope "Eastie" flew the last demonstration flight of an FA-18 in the RAAF. Eastie flew the RAAF 100 Sqn Mustang with Bunga in the Heritage Flight display at Shellharbour last weekend.
