Curtiss P-40N ZK-CAG "Currawong" is sold and on its way to the USA.
Thanks for all the displays, Liz, Frank, Garth and others.

The end of an amazing chapter. Love that aeroplane. Another will rise and fly the banner... bring it on!

"They're going for all our fighters." "This is only the beginning. They won't stop there."

Currawong was the first P-40 I ever saw in person and I’ve always enjoyed seeing her. Thank you Garth and Charles, and Frank and Liz, and everyone who has helped look after this special lady in New Zealand. She will be sorely missed here and I trust her new caretakers will treat her well. sundsc_0815_35554881591_o by Zac Yates, on Flickr

Such a shame, she's been a favourite for many years What are the remaining airworthy P-40's left in NZ?

What are the remaining airworthy P-40's left in NZ? There are no P-40's airworthy in New Zealand now. It will be some years till the next one takes flight too.

Aside from a few months in 1997, 1998 and 1999 I believe New Zealand has had at least one airworthy P-40 since April 1992. At any rate this year's Warbirds Over Wanaka will be the first without a P-40 flying since 1990.

Sad that Currawong has left NZ. I remember reading the story of P-40 Currawong in the book “The Whole Nine Yards by John King” years ago.
