I've been working recently on a painting of the NAC DC3 ZK-BBJ flying over Paraparaumu in the 1960s.
I have a question about the NAC livery: Did BBJ have the large serial number and NAC wording on the upper wings? Googling shows some did and some didn't. Also, if BBJ did have this wording, what colours was it (I think red for the NAC wording and blue serial number, but I may be wrong)?
The painting itself is nearly finished. I'll post a picture of it once it's done.

Here's a shot of the unfinished painting. Still a bit of fine-tuning to do (eg the question re the lettering on the upper wings). I'm no DC3 expert, so any feedback on (hopefully fixable) errors is appreciated.

On the Viscounts the NAC was on the port upper and the registration on starboard upper and the reverse on the lower surfaces I'd assume the DC3s would be the same. Here's how we've applied them to BRF at Ferrymead, you'll note the blue is very dark. hth

Thanks for your advice, guys. The painting is now finished! I'll leave I unvarnished for a few days in case I see any minor adjustments. I'm pleased with how the painting has turned out. I was planning to sell it, but my wife has baggsed it for our lounge wall! I'll get prints made, though.
