Note the concept was followed by the Thorp T18.
The FU-24 comes from the general design of the Cherokee which followed later.
The wing of the FD25 and FU24 is completely different, the former being designed for higher speeds.
The FU-24 design rights were sold to Air Parts (NZ) Ltd.
The exhaust pipes were designed for engine cooling, I think under the name of "Jet Blast Cooling". They were also fitted to Ryan Navions.

Saw this on the interweb...its a photo of the FD 25's first flight in Fletchers in house magazine...Also of interest its the Flair Fletcher magazine.Flair had bought Fletcher by this time,so technically it should be the Flair FD25 Defender and the other plane was the Flair FU 24..

Looks like she'd be a little hotrod, interesting history repeating sort of, as the US are getting Air Tractors to perform this very role.
Got me thinking and I'm happy to be shot down, what about an armed up XL 750? Has a couple of things over the Air Tractor, side by side seating and lots of room inside for the tech gear which could also be accessed in flight.
Another thought have Fletchers/Crescos/XL750s ever been used or considered for fire bombing?

A great video despite its "YouTubey-ness" (for lack of a better word) and inaccuracies that most would miss, but it was great to actually see and hear the thing flying instead of just photos. Another thought have Fletchers/Crescos/XL750s ever been used or considered for fire bombing? I remember Crescos being used to fight the Port Hills fires a few years ago.
