I had a spare Sword Beech D-17S when I built the Waco UOC, as the Waco model came with spare engine, prop and various vacform cowls, I decided to look into converting the D-17S into an earlier C-17B model with a smaller 7 cylinder R-755 Jacobs. The fuselage is shorter and the aircraft only has ailerons on the lower wing. The horizontal tail is also braced. The subject aircraft? well it seemed to be a fairly logical choice VH-UXP. Its come out looking fairly good, I suspect that the fuselage could have been narrowed a smidge and the blue paint used may also be a smidge too dark, however it looks great with the silver trim I've included 'AMU' as a bit of a comparison with the later model Beech with the Wasp Junior R-985 Untitled by Harry Follas, on Flickr 1I7A4577 by Harry Follas, on Flickr 1I7A4584 by Harry Follas, on Flickr 1I7A4578 by Harry Follas, on Flickr 1I7A4603 by Harry Follas, on Flickr 1I7A4604 by Harry Follas, on Flickr
