This is not just the important occasion of two Mosquitoes flying together, but in fact two ex-No. 75 Squadron RNZAF Mosquitoes together, NZ2308 and NZ2384. I wonder if these two have flown in formation before, and if so, when was the last time. www.centralcoastairfest.com/so/b9P7D9ADn?languageTag=en

That is so cool!
So, PZ474 was allocated NZ2384, was it ever applied to the airframe?

Thinking more deeply about this, and remembering back to what I was told by people like Ray Tocker and Bill Rolfe, my understanding is that whilst it spent most of its time with the RNZAF in storage, it was pulled from storage and underwent a full servicing at Ohakea, and had its engines removed, overhauled and returned. I believe it was test flown and it was ready to go into squadron service just as the decision was made to ground the Mossies as they were being replaced by the Vampires. When Bill's father purchased a number of surplus Mossies he was aware it had been overhauled as he'd been part of the team that did it, so he chose that one to be the first of those intended to be flown. Of course they only got the one flying and onto the US register before the government intervened.
I hope my memory is not playing tricks on me with this.

It's quite significant, considering the World was without any airworthy Mosquitoes, that soon ex RNZAF ones will make up half of the airworthy fleet.

So how did the ZK-BC* Mossies get from Ohakea to Longburn intact?

The last time two de Havilland Mosquitoes flew together was in 1987... which does not seem too long back till you do the maths, and realise that it's 37 years ago! "John Sadler was at the helm of RR299 for this memorable formation with his former BAe colleague George Aird in Mosquito B35 RS712, before the latter was delivered across the Atlantic to Kermit Weeks during 1987." They both look a bit grotty compared with the current crop of pristine Mosquitoes flying in North America.

Not only are there two ex-RNZAF Mosquitoes at the show but also an ex-RNZAF Douglas Dauntless, from the Planes of Fame collection. How cool.
I am really looking forward to photos and videos from the airshow tomorrow.

It was 1955 when they retired, so very close to 70 year, yes.
