No, but I expect it is any day now. I believe they were only waiting for it to go onto the Aussie register.

Allow me a personal comment: One of the first warbirds i remember, from going to airshows with my father since i was a kid: Whenuapai in '87, Waharoa '88 or thereabouts, and many since through to Wanaka 2024. Always been a highlight at each show, or a respectful moment when found napping parked in a hangar at other times. Thanks to all the various owners and pilots who made this all happen through the years. And in one of life's coincidences, Nov 5 is my fathers birthday, so somewhat bittersweet. So long, thanks for the memories, but hope to see you again!

Word is it is planned to do some local flying tomorrow from Ardmore in preparation for the ferry on Tuesday, so if you're up that way it may be a last chance to see, photograph and video it.

Bit conflicted with this one............love to see it here but at the same time loved seeing it in NZ against various backdrops. It shall be sorely missed on the other side of the Ditch

Looking forward to seeing fly here in Aus. A little bird told me eventually it will get a repaint in a yet to be decided USAAF scheme. That's good news for us photographers.

Another Mustang from the 363rd Fighter Squadron, 357th Fighter Wing, to go alongside the Mustang they have in the museum painted as 44-13573 B6-V "Isobel III", would work nicely. Not necessarily Chuck Yeager's "Glamorous Glen III" or Bud Anderson's "Old Crow".

Please, if it is to be painted in a USAAF scheme, please, please do something different........not as if there is a shortage of schemes from Europe, CBI, Philippines, Korea.....at all times down to the new owner what he wishes to do with it. Next to me I just happen to have my hand-written list of Mustangs that appeared at the "Gathering of Mustangs and Legends" at Kissimee, Florida. Of the 60+ Mustangs there, only two carried the same markings.

I checked the airport webcams to see if any would catch TAF while there. But no... On departure his track shows a 180 turn on the extended centre-line and a flyby down the main runway. Nice gesture, and hark to the days our P-40s were there.
