I take it the Airfix kit depicted is a much better build than the Matchbox one? I built the Matchbox one in the early 80's and even at that primitive stage I was aware that it was less than perfect. Having never seen an Airfix Strikemaster on sale anywhere, I'm wondering if it is worthwhile tracking one down

Goood to see a NZ Strikemaster featured.
Just curious from a 'planespotter' point of view, but did the RNZAF Strikemasters have the tail numbers when they were still in the swirly grey underside scheme?

The Airfix Strikemaster is very commonly seen, the box has options for a Strikemaster 14 SQN RNZAF, or Jet Provost 5 of the RAF. The red and white JP is on the box cover.

The Airfix kit is light years ahead of the Matchbox kit. The decals are better quality and feature more stencilling. The interior is still lacking and the panel lines are raised, but it is a nice kit. It has two sets of markings 14 Sqn or a red and white RAF aircraft.
