What are the names and numbers (FS number I guess) of the modern paints used on RNZAF aircraft these days, such as:
The grey on Hercules, Orion and Iroquois
The yellow on the Airtrainer (is it the same as the RAF Trainer Yellow of the Harvard/Oxford days?)
And are there model paints that accurately match them? Such as Humbrol or Xtracolor?

Les would probably be the best to ask. The grey looks very similar but satin finish to the grey used when the herks were camo which was 36118 so satin would 26118 ??

Off the top of my head, the Sprite is 26440 with 25357 markings, as for the rest I'd have to look them up. Can do on Wednesday and let you know. Yes, Richard is gone and I just got back froms Tubb's dining in/out. Rather spectacular evening with 90+ there, I went to bed at 0630 the next morning and it was still going.

The Orion grey is an oddball one and is not gunship grey. I have the FS colour listed at home on the instruction sheets for the low-viz decals, but the only match for the grey is in the Xtracolor/Xtracrylix range. The markings on the Orions are Gunship grey (FSx6118)

What would have been the colour scheme for the f16's if we had got them. Did they go that far at Ohakes before they were shot down. I supposse the same grey they were in or were w egoing to go with the skyhawk green.

I was going to post an image of one of the ones we were going to get in the grey, but have lost my photobucket password and they have not sent it via e mail yet. So from memory while I wa sin, they got about 4 out of the desert and started a servicing on them, pulled engines and did some mods etc, am I right.

This was the response I got from Therese Angelo the Collections Manager at the RNZAF Museum in July 2000, when I enquire about F16 colours, so I guess that makes it semi official. "The RNZAF F-16s had no particular colour scheme prepared for them, however, some mock ups were done wearing the same scheme as currently worn by the RNZAF Skyhawks. There are colour images of the current Skyhawk scheme on the RNZAF Web Site www.airforce.mil.nz" Anyway I did mine in Euro 1.
