Dave, I searched Google and found a few places here that stock this material, so surely there has to be someone in New Zealand who would stock it too?

Dave and Corsair, you could check with Trevor Brinngans, as you probably know, they're the biggest distributor of modelling products. Might be worth giving them a bell or a quick email: www.bringans.com/

A) You have to be a shop or dealer to deal with them
B) They carry very little stock at all these days, and seem to only order in what shops have ordered.
My parents had a model business and dealt with that company a lot but in latter years found it increasingly difficult to get anything from them as it was never in stock. I am fairly certain they do not carry the Heki brand but I can check with Mum and see if she still has their catalogues from last year. Cheers anyway.
I might have to mail order from somewhere. Where's the best place to mail order offshore? USA or UK? I hear Hannants is ok, is that right?

Hannants is great Dave, I've ordered things from them before and they are very quick.
They also have a huge stock of stuff so they usually have most things (unless of course it's OOP or limited run).
I give them two thumbs up.

Hannants is pretty good, but for anything other than photo etch or decals (ie flat things) they have a 30 GBP minimum order for international, so you need to save it up until you have a decent number of things to order. Good thing is it's 17.5% cheaper than it is in the UK because they deduct VAT on non EU orders.

Phil's right
Decal sets and such are exempt from the £30 minimum.
Cheers,
Tim.

Hmm, I wonder if these grass matts are packed flat.
Has anyone here actually seen or used the Heki matts? Are they as good as they look in the photos?

Just had a squizz at Hannants Dave and they don't seem to carry the Heki stuff yet.
But a quick Google search showed that there are a few railroad modelling online shops which carry and sell it.
Must say that I'm interested in it, although it might be a tad long for some scales and airfield depictions. The armour boys will have a field day with this stuff though.

Does anyone know if the Heki brand wild grass matting is available anywhere in NZ? Or a good source of it from mail order overseas? Try Macks Tracks in Johnsonville www.mackstrack.co.nz/. He certainly has had it in the past. Or try the model railway shop in Tauranga. Sorry I dont know the name. Paul

Thanks Paul. I just checked that Macks Tracks website and searched their catalogue. They do not list Heki among their products.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. Now that I know the options I will mull this over and see if I can afford some of this stuff.
That Silflor stuff looks excellent - thanks for that link Moeggo. It's a lot more expensive but maybe worth it.
I might experiment with a few home made options first and see how I go. Cheers.
