In a few recent threads the idea of a theme build project has been discussed, based around the various aircraft flown by a particular pilot.
I have begun to re-read 'The Road To Biggin Hill' by Vincent Orange, about Wing Commander Johnny Checkett's interesting life and flying career.
He would be a fine subject to base a theme build project upon.
If you start with the de Havilland Puss Moth in which he received his first flight as a young man, then onto a No. 1 EFTS Tiger Moth (first flight or maybe first solo, or better still the aircraft he flew in when Bob Penniket took over his instruction and put his flying career back on track maybe).
Then a No. 1 SFTS Fairey Gordon on which he did his advanced training.
Then in the UK there is the Miles Masters and Hawker Hurricanes of No, 53 OTU, Sutton Bridge. And finally his various Spitfires which began with a Mk Vc (did he fly a named one?).
You can continue the Spitfire theme with various ones such as the one he crashed when he bailed out into the Channel, and the other one he bailed out from into France, etc.
Afetr the war there are such aircraft as the RNZAF Meteor and Vampires, and his topdressing planes (Piper Super Cub included).
Lastly you could do one of the Tiger Moths he helped restore for the RNZAF Museum. And perhaps the Brendon Deere Spitfire project with which he was the Patron.
Just an idea...
