:DHi Everyone, Im coming over to NZ in a fortnight for holidays and will be touring over the North Island. Im trying to hunt down some Kiwi decal sets, one for the SEA scheme C130H and also the DC3/Dakota VIP 42 sqn scheme. Im also after the hi viz set for a P3K Orion from stinger. Can anyone help or point me in the direction of a hobby shop, say around Tauronga (spelling???) that might have such a thing. Cheers Anthony Veness Noosa, QLD, Aus.

Hi Anthony,
The city is spelled Tauranga, but pronounced the way you had it. There is a model shop over that way but I haven't been there in years. I don't know if the locals who're memebrs here can add more, but I recommend you check out the Classic Flyers Museum at Tauranga Airport while you're there.
What was the SEA scheme? The only ones I know of for RNZAF aircraft were the white and blue VIP-style scheme of the early days, the Canadian camouflage scheme and the current grey.

I have some of the 42 sqn VIP Dak decals from the Flying Kiwis kit, however I have stolen the Kiwi Roundels for my F27 Friendship!. I'll dig them out tonight and let you know.

I'm a local - the Model Shop is in Greerton (a suburb of Tauranga) on Cameron Road. It is called Bay Hobby Supplies. Don't recall many stand alone decal sheets being available - it is mainly stocked with plastic kits, diecast models & RC supplies.

As Naki said Anthony, no decal sheets there. I go there every year and pick up a few things. You'd be better looking at www.modelcraftsandhobbies.co.nz/ or Talon here might be able to help

Sorry for the confusion, I meant the European scheme the C130's shared with the Skyhawks and Andovers......I have fond memories of these Aircraft when visiting Nowra....and I also have memories of the Hercs doing circuits at Richmond. Anthony

No haven't seen any Kiwi Resin kits there - I thnk there may of been a couple Kiwi Wings kits last time I was there but I have to say it isn't the biggest shop around. If you really want the specialist stuff it might be best if you drop into one of the big Auckland ones if you can.
I'll check Bay Hobbies out in the wekend as it is just up the road.
Cheers
Paul

I still have the complete set of the VIP 42 Sqn Dakota it you want them. I doubt I'm ever going to use those markings as I'm more of a camo and wartime painter.
I'll post them to you if you if it's easier (price no issue it's only an letter type envelope). Or if you're on your way down through to Wellington I can leave them in my letterbox.

Tempestwulfs set will be better than mine, the cheatlines have had a bit cut out to remove the roundels. A lot of the rescue arrows have also been redeployed elsewhere.

My (Stinger Decals) Hi-Viz P-3K decals are OOP at present due to trying to source some new white cartrdiges as these are becoming like the proverbial hen's teeth. I have a set of artwork for decals for the C-130 in white over silver/grey which I can easily modify to the Lizard/European I scheme and scale to 1/48 as there is no white involved, just balck red and blue. Let me know if you want a set done. Unfortunately they won't be too cheap, given that I don't have all of the artwork and would need to make some changes.

Thanks Bruce and Hi Tempestwolf, Would very much like your VIP Dakota sheet. Could you email me at av.todnoosa@bigpond .com with your details and how much and I might get you to send them to me at home here in Australia. Hi Talon I discovered a set of Generic RNZAF low viz? red chook on blue roundels from an old kiwi wings sheet I had. Ive got the airfix Herc boxing with the Hi viz white/grey scheme so I might be able to use some of the stencilling.....I hope. If you ever do the Orion sheet agian, I would love a copy. Keep us posted. Cheers Everyone that has posted. Anthony

Good news, I finally managed to source some more white cartridges, so once they arrive, P-3 decals will be back in production.
