Whist reading a Osprey Airwar book (RAF Fighter units Europe 1939-1942) this morning I came across a photo of Kiwi ace J. A Gibson sitting in his VB Spitifre, whilst posted to 457 Sqn RAAF when it was i the UK. The shot shows his kill markings and the back of some interesting nose art. Some Googling came up with this page, The image at the top I beleive shows Gibson again standing by his aircraft. This is a differnet image from what is in the book. Anyway to the point, does anyone (Smithy?) know if there decals for this aircraft? Or does anyone have any better quality images of the aircraft. The Book gives the serial as BL351, code BP-H

I believe the old Airfix Mk Vb had the markings included as an option along with it. I still have them lo & behold albeit they are at least 5-6 years old by now. Hopefully they're still good but I recommend replacing the insignia's and codes as you can find better aftermarket, the noseart you'll have to be careful with.
Not sure if the old kit's still available because they're now releasing the Mk Vc & Mk IX/XIV but I believe it is though by recent standards the kit's due for retirement.
Let me know your postal address and I'll send them your way. Also, Ventura's "Spifires - The ANZACs" has a good close up in the back of the book of his aircraft.

Is that nose art Donald Duck? If so it's reminiscent of that Polish ace's scheme that the BBMF's Mk V is now wearing

There's a profile on the 457 Sqn book. I saw it today but was to tight to buy it. I just couldn't justify $38 for 1 colour profile. Does anyone have the email for Malcolm at [/url] I saw it today but was to tight to buy it. I just couldn't justify $38 for 1 colour profile. Does anyone have the email for Malcolm at Ventura pubs. I think he may have some pic's I found this . Page 2 or 3 has anotehr image. I'm surprised there hasn't been any aftermarket decals for him. He was a leading ace, and had nose art. Not to mention his surname ;D

Also he lead No. 15 Squadron RNZAF in the Pacific, and did you realise that while escorting bombers that squadron did not lose a single bomber to enemy action, and only one of their own fighters. That makes them as good as the much celebrated Red Tail Mustang squadron (Tuskagee Airmen) in that respect.
