In co-operation with SAAB the Empire Test Pilots School (UK) has introduced Gripen in their training of test-pilots. Among the pilots that have flown or will fly Gripen are several from the RAAF.

Peter, the Gripen is one aircraft I'd love to see in RAAF service, but alas, I doubt it will ever happen.
They'd tide the RAAF over quite nicely until the F-35 is fully up and running in USAF/USN and RAF service sometime in 2018.

You are probably right about Gripens chances in Australia but Denmark and Norway are re-evaluating Gripen. According to what I have seen in the newspapers they are displeased with broken promises from the US side.

Yes, I'd heard that Denmark and Norway are looking at the Gripen. Wasn't there also some possibility that Denmark might be given some component manufacturing rights with the Gripen?
I think quite a few countries are having second thoughts about the whole F-35 program at the moment, especially since the US has been so evasive on questions like technology transfer and how many F-35 they will buy for the USAF and USN.

I don´t know anything about component manufacturing but it´s probably correct. All deals with Gripen sofar include compensating trade agreements with swedish purchases of up to more than 100% of the value for the Gripen-orders. If your goverment will change their mind about F-35 the Swedish Air Force has about 60 surplus Gripen because of recent reductions of the combat strenght. These aircraft will be scrapped if they can not find any costumers.
