Heya,
My first post as a book reviewer ;D
I read this book by Peter Norman (autobiography) about 2 months ago.
Brilliant read !!! Goes into details about when he joined the RNZAF quite late in the war and started out flying Tigers. Good information about how to fly them also. Then he was shipped off to Canada to do the next training on Havards. Came back to the NZ (IIRC) and learned to fly Kittyhawks and Corsairs.
A little light on pictures but that's not a problem as it's very well written.
Thoroughly recommend !!
Cheers TNZ

I bought the book at the RNZAF Museum last year and read it during my round the South Island trip. I too thoroughly enjoyed it. It's actually one of a trilogy he's written apparently.
One of the really interesting things for me was that most pilot autobiographies of that era talk of how they grew up in the depression and came from a poor background, etc. However he came from the other end of the social spectrum, being from a rich family and going to the best schools. He also had family with influence. This being said, he was not a snob by any means, but it made an interesting read from that point of view.
Yep, an excellent book. I love the title too.

Well Turbo, you will be no doubt pleased to hear that because of your review I ordered this book through Hazard Press in Christchurch over the 'net: and I have to say that enjoyed it very, very much, and would certainly recommend it to anyone else interested in the wartime RNZAF.
Keep up the good work!
