This book is an illustrated History published in 1975 of the Kiwi aviation. The author is David Rendel and was published by AH & AW Reed. All the photos are b/w however there is 188 pages of technical infomation from the early years,NAC Teal, rules and regulations,aircraft enginering and Airports and airways. There are aerial photographs of many airports and the detailed maps of all WW2 aerodromes/anchorages etc from Rangaunu Bay in the North to Invercargill in the South Island. Further maps of both islands locates 1939 aerodromes followed by revisions in 1960 and 74. The airccraft engineering chapter concentrates on info & close usp aerial views of the aerospace factory at Rukuhia with a lot of info on the ct4 and fletcher production line etc.

Thanks Steve, I have been wondering what this book is like since discoverig its existence in an old Listener advert from 1975 a few months ago.
In the 1939 aerodromes on the map does it list Cambridge? It opened in 1929 but I have not found the date it closed. It must have been closed by wartime as the Army took over the area (the racecourse) and turned it into a training camp. I'd be keen to know if it's on the map though.

No mention in the 1939 map...Waikato region has Raglan,Waharoa,Rukihia,Te Kiuiti, Atiamuri. Mind you.... it also lists seagrove and ardmore...these both were not in existence in 1939!
