The DVD that myself and Mike Cater (collectively Old Crow Productions) made of the SportAvex 2006 airshow at Tauranga is available from the Sport Aircraft Association of New Zealand.
It covers pretty much all the displays with several forum members featured flying their aircraft including Ryan Southam doin a lovely display in the Tiger Moth, Richard Hood's awesome routine in the Pitts Special, and of course the mighty Thunder Mustang, plus much more.
The price they're asking is $27 incl. p&p
To order you have to go direct to SAANZ, we're not handling distribution on this film.
Contact: Adrienne Fillery SAANZ National Office Phone (09)434-6612. Or send payment to Sport Aircraft Association NZ Inc., P O Box 39, Maungatapere 0152. Or, fax credit card details to (09)434-6244
Any feedback and criticism of our first ever airshow DVD would be appreciated from those who've seen it.
Cheers Dave

I was lucky enough to go to the show at Tauranga. I though almost all of the displays were Great! In particular the Hood display in the Pitts and the Tiger Moth display was very entertaining. Dont know why but I thought David Phillips (Hunter pilot) was the pilot for the DH.82 . The C152 Aerobat display was a little wierd in my view .

The DH82 pilot was Ryan Southam, better known here on the forum as DragonflyDH90. He's rated as one of the best display aerobatic pilots in the Tiger Moth, and having watched his display at Tauranga (and over and over during editing) I can see why. A very sharp display.
I was very impressed with Richard Hood's display too, and I'd love to know how he created those awesome puff balls of smoke.
We were fortunate to capture lots of footage of both the DH82 and Pitts displays, as well as Doug Brooker's amazing Giles 202 display, so they're more lengthy features of the DVD.
The Hunter was not easy to film at all I can tell you. Man that thing is fast!
I liked the Cessna display, it showed both that Phil Hooker is a very experienced and impressive pilot, and that Cessnas are not as boring as I thought. It was also slow so easier to film. ;-)

Unfortunately by the time the Hunter display was starting we were on our way home. However I did see the take off and multiple roll manouver afterwards .When it was rolling it was arching towards the earth and not climbing while rolling .Very exciting!
