I don't know if this subject has already been covered (I did a site search, but couldn't see anything about it), but while in NZ I purchased a copy of a dvd titled "Classic New Zealand Aviation" from the RNZAF Museum. There is some great footage on this disc, including the Opening of Mangere Airport Airshow, Opening of Rongotai Airport airshow (including the Sunderland incident!), RNZAF Vampire aerobatic team from 1964, NAC promotional film from 1948, and aerial top-dressing. I think most of the footage used is from the NFU. Very good value for $20. The dvd is available from Transpress NZ - www.transpressnz.com

Damon told me about this a while back, he picked it up at the Warehouse. I have checked the Cambridge Warehouse and all three Hamilton Warehouses and never found it. I think Damon got it much cheaper than $20 too, but I guess he can confirm this.

The Classic New Zealand Aviation DVD was avaliable at my local Warehouse store sometime ago.If you still want the DvD perhaps ask at the DvD/music counter ( warehouse) to see if they have any in store or look at other store listings to see if any are avaliable. The Glenfield store does not have any at present. Also, I actually went to the distributers of the DvD as they are located locally in Glenfield Auckland. They did not appear to have any Classic New Zealand Aviation DVD's left in stock at the time and have not heard of the More Classic New Zealand Aviation Dvd that is reputedly also avaliable.
I intend to go back to the wholesellers in the near future to get the latest of a rerelease of the above mentioned DvD's

Watched this dvd again last night and I have to say the NAC promotional footage from 1948 is great. Part of it covers a young mother's journey from Auckland to Invercargill (via Christchurch and Dunedin) with her two young children, on a DC-3, Lodestar and Dragon.
The NAC DC-3s and Lodestars looked fantastic in the highly polished aluminium and red trim.
Going to see if I can get hold of the second dvd now through Transpress.
