I was just listening to Sounds Historical, on National Radio, in which Jim Sullivan plays two hours of old NZ recordings and other NZ historical stories each week, including lots of Kiwi music.
A song that Jim just played was rather good. It was country music, a style I have a severe aversion to and I was seriously about to turn it off, but then I heard the word Spitfire.
Listening closely to the lyrics I realised this was a song paying tribute to Sir Tim Wallis.
The song is 'Tim' by Rosie Parsons of Wanaka. It actually has the sound of TB863 at the beginning of the song, and it talks about how he inspired and touched people all around the world.
I rather liked it, and I've never said that about any country or western music before!
