Does anyone recall the excellent NZ drama series 'Marlin Bay' that was popular in the early 1990's? It was set in the Bay of Islands and revolved around a casino hotel. Great series.
A regular 'character' was Andy Anderson's helicopter. From memory it was a blue Hughes 500 and featured in pretty much every episode. I was wondering if it's still around NZ today, and where? Does anyone know its identity?

sheez that's an obscure question, Dave.
I reckon TC's Hughes 500 was a better looking machine !!
....I hope you don't ask who TC is....

Of course I know who TC is! He was cool and so was hs chopper! I even made a 1/32nd scale model of that once. I haven't a clue what became of that model though. I wish that show would air again.

oh yeah, I totally agree there.
I love the start of the programme where he dives the 500 toward the sea.

You have me so enthused I'm currently downloading the theme tune! They certainly did some great flying in that 500 in Magnum PI.
But, back to the point, the Marlin Bay 500? Anyone?

;D
I remember another great aviation moment from Magnum PI, where Thomas was really tired after a big job, and was trying to sleep in, but outside Higgins was flying his model aeroplane with that buzzing noise. Magnum walks out with a shotgun and blows it out of the sky. Priceless!

Yes I remember that one too. Higgins was actually Masters, wasn't he.
(sorry to hijack the thread with M PI reminices)

While we're hijacking the thread ;D Don't forget the episode where Magnum gets stuck under a P-40 wreck while hiking...... Anyone remember a show called 'Riptide'? Two PI's, adventures etc, part of their stable was a Sikorsky S-58 (Whirlwind in the UK) with teeth painted on it.....may have been a Wessex, definitely one of the two. 'Tales of the golden monkey' with it's Grumman Duck/Widgeon was always a childhood favourite as well.
