I see the Airline Pilots Association say that Taupo airport is extremely unsafe and pilots and passengers fly in there at their own risk. This is an extreme thing to come out with. They have given the airport a black star rating and advise pilots to undergo 11 special operating procedures befoe flying into the place. What do you pilots out there think who've flown in there? tvnz.co.nz/view/page/411366/737803

I've not had a problem with the place in the times that I have flown in there. Mind, I have not done an IFR approach - which would seem to be a bit dodgy (the Christian Aviation Seneca hit a hill while trying to get in to Taupo in marginal weather conditions).
