Does anyone out there know the identities of the two DC-3s in the following photographs, they were both on the fire dump at Palmerston North and removed in 1989 (or 1990). Also what became of them? Also note the faint US markings on the a/c in the top photo. Apologies for quality I was using an old Voightlander Vitomatic II fully manual non-slr, good way learn though.

I give you four choices:
ZK-AOD WFU Palmerston North 13/4/1976 ZK-AWO Last flight 1Mar84. WFU Milson @ 32846hrs. ZK-CHV Last flight 29Mar79. WFU at Milson @ 18395.20hrs, RTS, fuselage used at Milson for fire rescue practice ZK-CQA Last flight 8Jul75. WFU & dismantled for spares at Milson. Airframe used for crash/fire practice at Milson; to Ohakea Jul90 as training aid for firemen/crane drivers as 'NZ6289'
Both CHV and CQA did serve with the USAAF,
All the rest are accounted for elswhere!

Thanks for the info, I would probably take the punt on -CHV and -CQA, the gear removing them was green. Any info on their current disposition although I assume that the one in the top photo (-CHV?) was scrapped as it was quite badly fire damaged, especially the forward fuselage.
