Where else but NZ could you find 5 operational Convairs on one ramp.............  ...............Which leads to the question............... Why are they soo popular over here?  |

Just need Pionair's machine! Yes it is surprising how popular Convairs have become - its not a particularly common type elsewhere. Maybe it is the cabin volume and low cost - you get a lot of aeroplane for your money! Good reliable engines and solid airframes too, that should keep maintenance costs down, although they arent spring chickens....
