That's brilliant Les. The white one really stands out against the ground. All the schemes look great. Can you see serial numbers on the black and the white ones in the original shot?
Colin, that's a nice photo of the Checkers from '05 too!

I still prefer the original scheme of blaze orange(?) and grey; but then I'm a bit of a traditionalist.

The Historic Flight is typically run by a couple of old school SNCO's who can't let go. They love both their aircraft to death and I'm a bit surprised they didn't grab a crusty old S&S mate from Sanson's 'Pay Up and Park Up' Retirement Village to paint the letters and numbers on the old way.
When I left the force, the lettering was in font type Universe J. It changed to this in the 80's from font san serif.
I can remember when the Cessna 421 crashed and was rebuilt. They got some civillian in to do the signwriting and I noticed his handi work in a totally different font which I pointed out to my boss at the time, F /Sgt Ash Davey who went and did his telling off thing as he was a bigger boss than me. From memory did safe have the contract to rebuild the cessna.

Re ZK-DGY going to the United States, how was it transported & when ? (PAC acquired it on 06.06.1991). It was reg to CT-4 Syndicate on 11-02-1992, so must have been short trip.

It was a short trip, in an attempt to win the contract to build Airtrainers for the USAF. A contract they only narrowly lost. I recall they painted it up in gawdy red, white and bue colours to appeal to the Americans.
I'm not sure if it was shipped or flown across, possibly the latter. PAC regularly flies little planes across the Pacific.

When the 14 CT/4 were built in 1976, c/n 064 to 077, for the Breco deal, were they allocated civil registrations for flight testing ?. Or was the deal 'revealed' prior to first flights and the aircraft dismantled and stored at Hamilton ? Any further info available..Thanks,

Airtrainers 064 to 077 were civil registered in NZ ZK-EUM thru ZK-EUZ, and were registered at that time as CT-4A The registration dates were 2/04/1981 EUM thru EUP 22/10/1981 EUQ thru EUT 10/03/1982 EUU thru EUX 22/04/1982 EUY & EUZ They became A19-064 thru 077, in sequence. You would need to check back on the Breco dates to see if that deal was before those dates (I suspect that it was).
