I have not been able to get close to this , but at Mangere there is a hulk of what appears to be a twin engined aircraft it is in an area on the harbour end and north side of the runway and at a guess it could be an enginelss early (Mk 1 ?) Gulfstream business aircraft . Does anyone know anything about it ?

It is a G1 Gulfstream. I'm not sure of its past life but it was left at Mangere after the stock market crash in the late 1980s when the company that owned it was liquidated. After several years of unpaid parking charges, ownership passed to AIAL who moved it to the fire rescue training area. Aparently some reclaimation for the international apron extensions was underway at the time, and the easiest way to move it was to lift it onto the back of a large dump truck!
