My late father was e/o on this flying boat whilst still operated by Imperial Airways I think flying out of Egypt and Poole, Dorset. I know that it was converted to a Sandringham and delivered to TEAL. I have a placque that he salvaged, I think, when it was involved, as Pacific Chieftain (Qantas), in a collision in Rose Bay in 1951. I am intrigued by the history and am trying to get further information and if possible a photograph of this plane. As he died aged 41 in 1959 he couldn't have salvaged this when it was scrapped off Lord Howe Island in 1963.
Cheers.
