Considering hjow many Fletchers and Crescos fly very low directly over my house each day, morning noon and evening, I'm starting to get a little worried about these fatigued pilots.

Great photos guys, I have always loved the Fletchers/cresco. Does anyone know of any accurate plans with cross sections etc. I have always wanted to build a 1/48 one.

My Dad had some plans to build a very accurate massive r/c Fletcher, but he never got round to building it before he died. I don't know if the plans are still at Mum's or if someone else got them, but I could photograph them perhaps which might be a little help in setting up a scratchbuild. If I can track them down that is.

Thanks Dave, any help would be appreciated.
Maybe someone here works for the company or knows a contact there I can talk to about plans etc.
Cheers
Anthony

I have spoken with Mum and she says the plans for the large Fletcher model have gone to someone else since Dad's death. Sorry,
However, she is certain that Dad has some other drawings there seperate from that plan set, and thinking about it I think she's right. I have a feeling Dad actually got some drawings from Pat Monk at one stage too (NZAI Chief Designer, and our neighbour at the time). So if we find anything I'll let you know.

I remember seeing a model RC Fletcher when I was a kid, built by a guy called Arthur Heenan down in Southland. He used to fly it off his farm and it looked awesome. Not sure if he is still there but the other option is call Josh or Jonathon at Oceania Aviation at Ardmore as they now own Pacific Aerospace and might be able to help out with some plans.

When did Pacific Aerospace get sold? The owners before were Brian Hare and Air New Zealand, wasn't it?

Nice video there Karen. I particularly like the bit where he flies through the trees.

Anthony,
I have located a drawing amongst Dad's things which is a three view of a Fletcher FU.24-954
It has side view (port), front view and plan view. It looks to be around 1/48th scale.
I have also located a drawing (plan and side view) of a Cresco, much larger, possibly about 1/8th or 1/10th at a guesstimate.
I believe Dad got these from pat Monk, our neighbour and the chief designer for NZAI.
Are you interested in copies?

Fletcher BHG refuelling between jobs early '06 at Taupo. However the oldest Fletcher still active is most probably ZK-CQB,this was s/n 7 from the original batch and was retained by Fletchers as a test/demo aircraft until it came to NZ in the mid '60s.

I guess it depends on your reference material but mine has CQB flying on 8 Feb '55 in the US. Anyways theres probably enough bits of BDS in the Superair hangar to see the absolutete oldest Fletcher rise from the ashes again one day. Photo is another oldie BIV,working hard at Whangarei in 1978,I think she met her end around 1990.
