The restoration of Rearwin ZK-ALF that is being restored by 21 year old owner Tim Galpin is progressing well, and took a leap foward last weekend when the wings were fitted. One of the helpers in this exercise was this forum's member Kiwi, who took these photos. I'm sure Kiwi will be along soon to answer any questions.

Great to see another classic lightplane about to take to the air again - Love the colour too - it should certainly stand out at fly - ins etc!

It will look nice in formation with the Warbirds Beaver against a bright blue sky, eh.

I think it is great to see young guys (and gals) involved in classic and sport aircraft - good on him. Classic lightplanes are a great way in, and not absolutely out of the reach of many young people (considering how much can be spent on "boy racer" cars). I'm 35 and one of the younger amateur aircraft builders, and whilst I have had to make a few sacrifices, it is acheivable. Now we just need some more ladies involved in the movement!

Er, to a movement where the blokes spend every spare dollar and every spare moment in their sheds building planes, or every other moment in the aeroclub bar with his mates talking about aircraft? Why spoil such a good lifestyle? Or do you need someone to make your cups of tea Bruce? {Now I'm in for it ;D}

yup, you're in for it! actually in our SAA chapter we have plenty of input from ladies. Not only do we have Louise Coates from Ngatea who has built her own RV6 (seen recently in the Waikato Times) but many of the spouses of the chapter blokes take an active and supportive role in the construction of the aircraft. One I know of insisted on hanging the tailplane of the RV that she and her hubby were building in the main hallway of thier home - she was so proud of it! One does have to say though that by far the majority of our members are guys, however any heathy organisation should have a mix of genders to make things more interesting (especially for the single guys! )

Nice looking restoration. Wonder if the Moth Minor will be the next one from the Galpin hangar. The colours look to be way better than when I first saw this old bird back in the 1960s. Then owner Mr Nixon was a nice old fellow, very tolerant of a plane-mad kid.
