Aru, thanks for posting those images: it is interesting to seeing the operational side of airline operations. I'm surprised with all the War Against Terror tm hysteria that you can carry a camera around the tarmac without someone trying to arrest you. I always feel sorry for the poor devils who get to crawl around in those spaces packing everyones luggage away. Must be hard on the back and knees: OH&S must love these aircraft?

Interesting Alex. Did you check yourself in as cargo luggage for a flight?

a couple of patches , I cant quite now remeber lol. and yes dave I could send myself somewhere as cargo, but I think i would give the loaders at the other end a bit of a fright when they open the hold, plus the company would not be too happy i think . yeah security isnt so tight around domestic, but you have the all ways watching camera's, and all the airnz staff do a security seminar, so we can take care of most things that are dodgy. here are some lessons i have learnt working there A heavy tag and a fragile tag on the same bag is just asking for trouble. Avoid the queenstown flights where ever possible. 30 minute turn arounds arent fun skis, snowboards, and golf clubs are a real pain in the arse. and not all animals take kindly to being shoved into a cage and then into an aircraft

Doesn't "fragile" just mean "break gently"? ;D
By the way, what's the deal with avoiding Queenstown flights: is it because of the amount of skis and snowboards involved?

at this time of the year yes, but they always seem to have pretty full holds, baggage and cargo . (both unloading and reloading)

Interesting, very different. I'm always amazed at the speed at which the bags are unloaded when you arrive at your destination. Having said that, I suppose speedy turn arounds means more smoko time
