I took a day off and went to Tauranga last Thursday mainly to catch up on happenings at the Classic Flyers Museum and they have a very nice cafe there that serves a nice lunch too. Some pics I took on the way and no prizes for guessing where this one was taken. Main street and shoreline look good too. Airport activity. Classic Flyers museum Sabre pics I had a great day and must do it again sometime. They did mention that the Catalina PBY would be shifting down from Ardmore? Anybody know when? Colin

I believe it was supposed to be there already but it has having some major work done on it at the moment which is delayed due to weather (it has to be worked on outside apparently)

Nice shots. That Heron looks wonderful.
There is a great aviation coimmunity in Tauranga, and it's a lovely place. I think that museum will need to be extending its hangar space soon if much more from Ardmore moves down there. Is that Sabre the one that AvSpecs restored and was sitting in the weatehr at Ardmore for a bit when the museum it was supposed to go to decided they didn't want it? Or is it another one?

The Rapide/Dominie is here now - it was here today anyway. The A-37 is suppose to be based here as well - haven't seen it yet.

I think there is one being restored somewhere, might be at Aerosmith Engineering (in the old Waitemata Aero Club hangar) from memory.
The flyable A-37 can't be far off reloating to TG, the hangar it was housed in has sold and most of the other aircraft operated by the owner have moved already. The Dominie I believe needed some work on it's wheels/brakes or something of that nature hence it's delay in getting to it's new home.

Yes that's a really cool looking machine, and a great photo. Colin, do you have a photo of ZK-HTF/4, Mike Erceg's Eurocopter that crashed near Raglan in 2005?
