Who was the professor that designed the runway format to the north? Where does the majority of turboprop traffic come from? South of Auckland, which means they will have to cross through the extended centreline of the main 23L/05R runway. Pure genius that, especially when the weather deteriorates.

problem I see is that most turbo props are going to be weight restricted out of a 1200 metre runway. Overseas, places like Heathrow and Hong Kong also have 2 parallel runways, but one is used for take off and the other used for landing. LAX has two for landing and two for takeoff at the same time
