Whilst I agree with the annoyance factor of cellphones in confined spaces, but if the technology is there to allow it, why don't they (CAA) research and get with the times? This is a common issue with NZ CAA, thay are suspicious and slow to adopt new technologies.

Perhaps in future they could have cellphone and non-cellphone areas of the aircraft, like the smoking and non-smoking of the past. Then people who hate cellphones can live in peace, while those who need to make or take a call can do so.
