Air NZ reviews planes' safety 8:00AM Friday November 02, 2007
Air New Zealand is to review the performance of Bombardier Q-400 aircraft before any decision is made on whether to buy them.
Air NZ took an option to buy 13 of the 70-seat Bombardier Q-400s when it ordered 17 Q-300 planes in October 2005, but the later model has been banned by Scandinavian Airlines because of landing gear problems.
Air NZ's corporate communications manager, Tracey Palmer said the airline was extremely pleased with the performance of its Q-300 fleet

We've just ordered an additional 12 Q400s plus 24 options to add to the 9 we have now across the Tasman.
Our Maintenance Watch reckon they are for spares ;D
They certainly go - I went for a blat in one at Avalon a couple years ago - haven't flown in any of ours yet as they haven't deemed us worthy of them in VIC/TAS where I am.
I suppose on the plus side there are 27 going cheap at the moment, 3 slightly damaged.
