This photo was taken across the road from Mum and Dad's place in what was then the Cambridge Polo Grounds (now it's part of the Cambridge Soccer Club). I'm sure the registration reads ZK-BPK. We think this was in the early 1980's, possibly 1983-ish, and from memory this aircraft (is it a Cub?) had engine problems and the pilot made the landing as a precaution. I'm sure this is that one that landed with engine problems as I don't think any other fixed wing aircraft landed there ever. Does anyone out there know more about it?

Date is possibly a bit later than that. BPK went to the South Island in the late 1960s, and had various owners in Balclutha, Glenorchy, Nighcaps, Twizel and Dunedin before heading north to Paeroa in 1989. Unless it was on a longish trip at the time of the incident, I suggest that the date would be 1989-1990.

Cheers Peter. No way was it that late, I rememebr the event as a kid and I was in the RNZAF from Jan 1989. So must have been on a long trip north.
