Had a great day , I was shouted a flight in the Warbirds DC3 . We drove up to Tauranga where the aircraft was to be positioned at the Classic Flyers Museum . We arrived early and were able to wander around their aircraft and exhibits and enjoy a coffee in the cafe . The arrival of the DC3 was quite impressive as it roared in over the museum and then as it negotiated the tight corner into the narrow track up to Classic Flyers . This team of guys and girls is very professional in a laid back Kiwi way , and they do it with such style . While taxiing one of the girls flies two New Zealand flags out either side of the cockpit , it relly does make the picture .The aircraft is well sound proofed , and fitted out with Boeing 737 seats for comfort . We were treated to a smooth sightseeing flight around the Tauranga / Mount area with bubbly thrown in . The pilot , is a Boeing 777 captain in his day job and the cabin crew are knowledgable , entertaining and friendly . Many many thanks to Jessica and her team for a great days fun .

Yeah, there's nothing quite like a flight in an unlined C-47 with bench seats along the sides! ;D

Fortunately, not that bad. Friends of mine shouted me a flight in the Australian War Memorial's C-47 that was operated for quite a number of years on the Memorial's behalf by the RAAF. It was a fantastic flight, and especially as the aircraft was pretty much still all original inside.
The Dakota is now in storage at the AWM's Treloar Centre in Canberra, and has not flown for a number of years.
This particular Dakota is 'famous' as the aircraft that flew the body of PM John Curtin from Canberra to Perth in July 1945!
