This is sad news.
Plane crash kills two in Canterbury Wednesday, 16 January 2008
A plane crash in Canterbury today has killed two pilots from Mexico on a training flight.
The Piper Cherokee was en route from Hokitika to Christchurch and was due to land in Christchurch at midday.
It was reported overdue just after 1pm and a search launched.
The plane was spotted north east of Lake Coleridge about 5.45pm.
Rescue Co-ordination Centre New Zealand's John Dickson said it appeared the plane had caught fire on impact and there were no survivors.
Three planes and a helicopter were used to search the last reported position of the Piper Cherokee about 16km northeast of Lake Coleridge.

Yes, very sad indeed. Apparently the wreckage was located by a CAC Partenavia which was helping with the search. The aircraft was Cherokee Archer ZK-LJB. My thoughts go to the staff at CAC and to the friends and family of the victims.
