My DVD is in my computer, and though i almost always buy Region 4 or no-region DVD's, I do have a couple that are Zone 2.
I'd like to be able to view them, but I have that stupid problem where the DVD player is locked on Region 4 and that's it. I have heard there are free programmes you can download that solve the problem, but I am not sure what they are.
I use Windows XP Service Pack 2, and my DVD driver is 'Power DVD'
Can anyone please suggest which free programme will work? It sucks that I was duped into buying R2 DVD's when it's illegal to sell them here - that's the Warehouse for you...

It would probably be easier to buy a cheap DVD player, since they have to be multi region in NZ.
I know that's not much help, but I know with my DVD drive I have to set up the region in the DVD drive details in the device manager, but I can only change it 4 times.
Unlike DVD players, it seems that it is legal to sell region specific DVD drives in this country.

I find that reinstalling windows seems to fix all the problems I have ever come across ;D I use a free program called media player classic, which i'm pretty sure is dvd region free, plus has alot of other codecs etc in it for other video files. this should point you in the right direction sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=82303&package_id=84358

Dave, Here is an advice page that may help you: www.videohelp.com/playThere are expensive payware solutions - they range from US $40-50 so freeware looks appealing. Phil.
