Its exciting news to see this happening, it would be great to get everything inside. The Hall layout plans are interesting - Does Motat have a F27 Friendship waiting somewhere? The laout overall looks good, although the likes of the Ventura will continue to be hung from the ceiling I am a little concerned that Motats extensive collection of homebuilt aircraft don't appear to have been allocated any space. Considering the popularity of the homebuilt movement in NZ it is a pity this hasnt been recognised. Hopefully the layout is a draft only and some space can be found for them. It is going to be a big job to reshuffle the existing hangars during construction - heres hoping everything will be done with the care that has characterised recent years at Motat, as opposed to earlier fiascos.

Yes, Motat was given an Air New Zealand F27 some years ago and it has been stored at Harewood till they have facilities to handle it.
That plan looks very crammed in. And there appears to be two Mosquito shaped planes, what could the second one be?
The DC3 looks to be suspended above the Hudson/Lodestar, yet below the Ventura... Hmmm.
Mind you the existing aircraft hall has a lot of suspended aircraft but they are still easy to see and walk around. Hopefully a meaazanine walkway will be included for eye level viewing too, like in Wigram's Atrium.
Turning the Lancaster sideways is a bit of a shock, could it be done within the existing space? Or will they have to take it out, turn it and wheel it back in sideways on dollys?
I guess the homebuilds and replicas can go into the Belfast Hangar. There won't be much more needing restoration when this is done. I think the construction of the building is still some way off.

The last time they attempted an engine run on the Lancaster , many years ago , someone stole the fuel and replaced it with water . Was any attempt ever made to purge the fuel system after this ?

What? That's appaulling! I never heard that before.
I recall seeing an engine run many years ago in the 1970's when it was still at Motat 1 end. Awesome.
Wouldn't it be nice if they'd decided to set up the museum so the Lanc could be towed out for engine runs and taxis, like East Kirkby. It would become a popular event and bring in some money I'd think. It won't happen though.
