Gorgeous photos Rob, thanks.
Does Old Warden have an actual museum for artifacts, photos, etc? Or is it purely a working airfield with old planes? I'd love to visit someday. Dad used to have a video of large scale models at Old Warden, a David Boddington video from the mid-1980's, but it showed some full size stuff too including a Fokker Triplane. Even then as a kid I thought how cool the place looks.
It's amazing how some of those really old aircraft are still flown, when other groups would have them tucked away static in museums forever. There are some rare planes there, I don't even recognise some of the civil types despite looking at many OW threads on FlyPast forum. What exactly are G-AOTK, G-AAPZ and G-AAYX?
I love the Tutor and the Hind, and the Magister, phew that's nice, great photos of each too.

AYX is a Southern Martlet, APZ is a Desoutter I (there was one in NZ at some point, see latest Classic Wings), OTK is a Druine Turbi D5. If you are ever in the UK Dave a visit to Shuttleworth is most definately worth a visit. de Havilland DH88 Comet G-ACSS at Old Warden, Shuttleworth Collection Sorry for the cheesy pic, but who can resist a Comet

Thanks Ryan. I had thought that might have been a Desoutter buts wasn't sure. I have seen old photos of the Waikato Aero Club's example which was flown often by the well known Stanley Blackmore, who used to bring it into Cambridge often apparently (when we had an aerodrome).
The others I have not heard of. Where did the Desoutter originate? It sounds like a French name, but I know that the same name was used by a US car manufacturer. Were they American? French? How many still fly?
Nice shot of the Comet, I'll bet you're itching to get the Mandeville one done and itno the air.

The Desoutters were built in the UK in the 30's, I think the factory was at Croydon. Im not sure exactly how many are around, maybe someone else can tell us (guaranteed someone on Key pub or WIX will know a bit more about them).
I am trying my hardest to get the Comet project moving, and hope I can make some progress on this soon once a few of the current projects in the shop are finished. I recently approached the Burberry clothing company with regard to possible sponsorship but unfortunately they declined, and wouldnt even stretch to allowing us to use the name and logo on the aircraft (even if it was painted like that in the thirties). Still working on a possible scheme, wont be "Grosvenor House" red, probably wont be "Black Magic" (although this is a really nice scheme, I would like to be different and as the UK "Black Magic" replica is being built dont think it will be this one). I would like to have the aircraft represent Arthur Clouston's achievements (being a New Zealander), and the aircraft having strong links to NZ. "The Burberry" is out so maybe " The Orphan" or possibly "Australian Anniversary"

Which scheme did Clouston's Comet wear when he arrived at Omaka? I saw the footage of that last year on the big screen at Blenheim's local museum, and it was superb, but i can't recall what colours the plane was in. (it was in B&W of course!)
I'm not at all surprised about Burberry being so stand-officsh, I hear they're one of those wildly over-protective companies about their name, like Harrods, McDonalds and Hilton. The other night on the news it said Burberry's are currently sueing a chap in Britain who makes clothing for ferrets (wierd but true!) because he called the clothing line Furberry's. I hate companies that do this. Harrods made a NZ shop change its name, despite it having been a long established family business, the family being called Harrod and the shop being called Harrod's. They never professed any link to the London store, yet the w*nker lawyers for the London department store that's not even owned by anyone called Harrod won the case! I was glad when the Blackball Hilton pub won its case against the idiot Hilton hotel chain by changing its name to "Formerly The Blackball Hilton" - legally they couldn't stop them. ;-)
