I'm betting that not a lot have seen this photo. On the day of the disbandment, Mumbles and I were out on the flightline at Ohakea, when the very last flight by the CO 2 Sqn took place [Easty is now flying F18s in OZ]. He came down VERY low, and believe me, he was low! This photo was taken fom the other side of the tower. The tower is 80' high!

You had to be there! I kid you not, we felt the air pressure of his passing, and in that photo, he is actually climbing! The guys standing on top of the building on the right, the Crash Bay, are actually looking at about eye-level! Just look at the pressure on the wing!
Now.....what did I do with that Hunter at Wanaka photo......

You betcha, it was an awesome moment. I was about 50 feet closer than Phil82 and it felt like I was just about underneath it. This is about 3 seconds earlier, speed around 480kt's I've been told. Just beginning the turn to starboard shown in the first shot. I would've taken more, but there was only time for one shot and I'm damn glad it came out. Phil Treweek (who was standing next to me at the time) also has a nice image of this pass on Kiwi Aircraft Images. I wonder how many photos there are of this out there, as there were a lot of cameras around that day. That said, if you weren't paying attention you would have missed it. Some of the guys around me certainly weren't looking in the right direction and suddenly got a big surprise. I've been told that the slat rails were damaged by turblence on this pass and the subsequent display was somewhat difficult due to the slats not retracting properly once extended. I feel lucky to have been on the spot not only for this, but also for the occasion of the last A-4 leaving Ohakea to go to Woodbourne. I've got some cool photos of that too, I just need to get them scanned.

Great shot but I thought Easty's last flypast at Nowra was better. You better believe those people waiting by the Herc are about to get one hell of a surprise. Les.

Cool shot. I nearly had a similar one of the last last Skyhawk pass at Ohakea. I had the near head on shot lined up and was just about to press the button when I lost him behind the museum building.....
