Anyway, the Hornets, F-111s and warbird stuff will be worth seeing on their own, so I don't think you'll be bored, Sam. Is anyone else from the forum membership going?

I'll be there with bells on. Based at the Aero stand but roaming about when the action is on.
Possibly going by train from Parramatta to save the agony of the queues on the road. The car park is actually further to walk from than the railway station. They may have shuttle busses.

Thought this may be of interest. I'm hoping the F-15 Eagles turn up: they're amazing to see (and hear!) in action!

AVIATION SPECTACULAR AT RICHMOND AIR SHOW
The Royal Australian Air Force will celebrate its 85th birthday with the most comprehensive air show seen in New South Wales since the 1988 Bicentennial spectacular.
The Richmond Air Show will be held at RAAF Base Richmond, north-west of Sydney, on the weekend of 21 and 22 October 2006.
Head of Special Events, Air Commodore Des Long, said the RAAF is pulling out all stops to put on a great show.
“Not only will we be celebrating the Air Force’s birthday, but this year is also the 90th Anniversary of the formation of Richmond as a flying training establishment,” AIRCDRE Long said.
“Richmond, in conjunction with Point Cook in Melbourne was training military pilots for the Australian Flying Corps’ in World War I.”
AIRCDRE Long said that to commemorate these significant anniversaries, warbirds from four aviation museum have been invited to take part in the Richmond Air Show.
“Famous aircraft such as the Spitfire, Mustang and Kittyhawk fighters will be flying and there will also be a Meteor, Canberra and Catalina flying boat taking part.”
More than 100 aircraft ranging from the basic Tiger Moth trainer to the giant Boeing C-17 transport will be on show at Richmond, with more than 30 aircraft to perform during the three-and-a-half hour air show. The United States Air Force is also expected to fly-in two F15 Eagle fighters.
Perennial favourites, the RAAF Roulettes and the Army’s Red Beret parachute team, will be supplemented by comprehensive ground displays and military bands.
Ticketing for the event is being handled by CityRail. CityRail will provide dedicated Air Show Trains to Clarendon station, adjacent to the air show venue.
Although a comprehensive traffic plan to ease congestion is in place, air show patrons are being encouraged to travel by train because of limited parking near RAAF Base Richmond.
Rail travellers can save $5 and purchase a return CityRail air show entry ticket at $20 for adults and $5 for children between 4 and 16. Children under four travel and enter the show free. Motorists can purchase ticket from booths located within the car parks at $25 for adults and $5 for children.
CityRail Air Show tickets will be on sale at CityRail stations from 2 October.

Yeah I saw the F-15 display at Avalon a few years ago and it was very impressive, especially for a 35 year old design. I also saw one at Ohakea in 1981, but I was only 5 so I don't remember it.
First Cityrail outlet I see on arrival I'm buying my ticket!

I'm on the oh-my-god-its-early out of Welly on the Friday. I have things I want to do in Sydney besides looking at planes, so that way I get the whole day to roam.

Bloody typical: weather might be a bit crappy! On the news last night the weather bimbo said there may be showers around Sydney on Saturday and Sunday! Hopefully, the Met Office has got it all wrong. I know we need the rain, but can't it just hold off until Monday?

Have a good flight over, Sam; and don't forget to pack a raincoat - just in case! Temperature is predicted to be in the low 20s, which is a hell of a lot more bearable than when it gets up to 35-40C out there. There's some useful info from CityRail at - www.cityrail.info/event/061021-airshow.jsp

Current info suggest a pair of USAF F-16s.
Temora sending: Vampire, Meteor, Canberra and the MKVIII Spitfire according to their email.
They were looking for a pilot for the MKXVI, no Spitfire experience required but must have PPL with CSU and tailwheel endorsements, all training on the job, age no barrier. They lost my phone number, bugger!
WX pleasant at the moment but cloudy.
Out there tomorrow at 1000 to help set up a display stand and maybe get to see the practice session.

Day one was great, despite the weather and the Eagles not making it. The solo hornet demo is one of the best fast jet displays I have ever seen ;D. Hopefully its a bit warmer tomorrow....and less cloudy so we get to see more than low level displays.
