Amazing photos. Wow.
I had no idea there was a King Tiger tank at Omaka. I assume it's a replica? Do the tracks work? The WWI tank is fantastically detailed and realistic, is the German tank as real looking up close?
I also love the second photo, featuring the DH-2 bearing down head on. Awesome.

Yes, built on a mazda 626. No the tracks are fixed. Very good from a distance and not back close up. Yes the WW1 is very detailed.

Great stuff. I never knew there were so many WWI vehicles, guns and re-enactors in this country. Is the Rolls Royce Armoured Car real?
And what's that neat little yellow and black aeroplane? Is it a Fleet something-or-other? Who's is that? Is it Omaka based?
One thing I notice in all the coverage in books and the web I see of the Omaka WWI stuff is the pilots are seldom mentioned. I know Gene Demarco flies the Sopwith Camel, and John langham flies one of the Fokker Dr1's, but who else flies for the collection? Are they all the same known pilots who fly the WWII warbirds, etc, or a whole seperate lucky bunch of people? I assume Stuart Tantrum flies some of them?

Dave,
as stated John Lanham (excellent display pilot) does display the Fokker, other Fokker pilots are Jim Rankin, Pete Cochrain (both current CFS at Ohakea). Unsure who the rest are !

One of the other guys could be Paul (Huggy) Hughan, ex RNZAF. He was also flying one of the Dr1's at WOW this year before its oops. He has a Yak52 as well and usually flies with the Yak team at New Plymouth. He was flying one of the Vampires at WOW along with Brett Emeny, which I must say was one of the smoothest and tightest formations Ive seen for ages.

Is it true that a starling got caught amongst the rigging wires on the DH-2 at CF and didn't find a way out of them till 4 days after the airshow?

" Is it true that a starling got caught amongst the rigging wires on the DH-2 at CF and didn't find a way out of them till 4 days after the airshow?"
You mean that there was a wire missing?

Not true, there is no room for a bird (even a small one) to get in between the wires. The least popular job is to swing the prop on the DH2 as it's like going "over the top" from a trench, you won't be coming back! ;D
