Fabulous photos. I wish I'd been there to see it.
I note the 2008 Warbirds Over Wanaka is already advertised, and is billed as Warbirds Over Wanaka International Airshow, so lets hope a few interesting visitors from abroad like this one can make a visit.

Amitch, great photots. The BF 109 came in Easter 1996. The OFMC Me 109J came in the 1992 show.

Interesting history, that G-10. The airframe was built in Spain as a HA-1112 M1L C.4K-40 c/n 213 and was converted as a Messerschmitt Bf-109G-10 in the 1990s, becoming D-FEHD in 1995. For some reason it was registered in NZ as ZK-CIX (how are your latin numerals?) while it was here in Mar/Apr 1996, reverting to its German registration on its return to Europe. Current owner is the Messerschmitt Foundation. I recently acquired a colour slide of this aircraft, taken in 1995 soon after its conversion work:

Great photos guys. I went to that '96 show and the Bf109G was definitely the highlight for me. The Daimler Benz DB601 has a very nice even sound to it, a slight whistle from the supercharger. Still cant beat the sound of a Merlin though!
