I have realised that I don't have a book covering the Warbirds Over Wanaka airshow in 1996, and I don't have a video either. I have all the other books and videos/DVD's so far produced. I have looked online and can't see any reference to a book or video being produced for that show. Were they? Did I simply miss out? Or was there some problem preventing it? Also, this page has what was on the 1996 poster: www.nzfpm.co.nz/wow/wow1996/poster.htmBut I have pre-show flyers from 1995 advertising the upcoming 1996 show with a painting in the same style, same artist, of all three of Sir Tim's Spitfires flying in formation on the cover. It looked then as if it was meant to become the poster. Of course by the time the show happened, the Mk XIV was destroyed and the Mk V was not yet flying, and didn't till Nov 96. So did they change the poster? If so, what to?

As stated they were both produced, the front cover of the book has the Mk XVI Spitfire, Yak 3 and Mustang, Miss Torque on the front.
As usual the book is great but I didnt think the video was that good so leant it out and am not sure where it is now. It did have some good footage on the 109 flown by Mark.
I have seen an ad in Aviation News advertising the new book for 2006, anyone seen it yet?

Funny you should say that about the video. I was actually a little disappointed by the airshow itself and was really only impressed by the RAAF F-111 display.
I enjoyed the 2002 & 2004 ones a lot more.
Here's hoping they pull something out the bag for 2008.

Chris, did you post this on the right thread? We were talking about the show ten years ago. As for this year's I loved it, the best show I'd been to ever. How could that have possibly disappointed you? (apart from the sad news that the AFC was dissolving and selling up...)

Well,...was relevant I guess when it comes to a vid being produced (I'm digging my way out... ;D)...
I guess the multitudes of Polis weren't up (now THAT was awesome)....having the Mr Glenn present was great at the previous one (yes I shook his hand !!) ...dunno just didn't have that slick feel like all the previous ones I've been too.
Just my opinion.

Fair enough. I hadn't been to one since 1993, so I missed all that went between except via watching videos. The DVD of 2004 does make it look betetr, the Brietlings alone would have been superb. But for me seeing three P-40's aloft was magic, plus the LA-9, Corsair, Hurricane and Polis - wonderful. I got to see a lot of aircraft I'd never seen in the air before too, the Hurricane included and the Polis. Plus I got to catch up with my old mate Ray Mulqueen which was a great pleasure, and I met Nigel Lamb, John Lanham, and even Yurgis.
Meeting forum members in person (some for the first time) was great too like Alan Udy, Alex Mitchell, Dave Lochead, Dave McDonald, Ryan Southam, Mike Karsten, John Parker, Damon Edwards, Peter Arnold, etc, that was a highlight for me. I'm still miffed I missed you.
Met Mr Glenn? Do you mean John Glenn? Wow. The world's oldest astronaut - must be cool.

Yup, John Glenn alright. He was being chauffer driven through the crowd in a Willeys Jeep shaking peoples hands. Naturally I was there like a shot !!! He is an incredible man for sure.
Yeah bugged I missed you too. Perhaps CF2007?
