The whole program runs to 36 pages, with some of those being advertising.
I could scan the whole lot, although it would be a bit of a mission.
Not right now though but perhaps if there is the demand, it's a little project I could get into over the next few days.

KTJ, Sorry did not realise the extent of the program pages. Whatever pages you think are worthwhile would be good to see. Any advertisements? NO. ;D Thanks. Of course any Skyhawk pics/info is always most interesting to me.

Super photos Ken, thanks for posting these. I'd love to get permission to use some of them on my airshows website section. It's nice to see the shots particularly of the first CT/4B team display and Graeme Goldsmith's Skyhawk team display too. That was the first proper aerobatic display team for Skyhawks in NZ. Their roll under break would indeed have tuned the heads of visitors as most countries in the world had banned it, as it has been banned here now, due to the number of fatalities it causes.

I've got some photographs from Air Force Day 1981 too.
I'd have to do a bit of hunting for them though. They will be in one of a large number of photo albums stored away in boxes in my shed. I'd probably be able to locate the negatives a lot easier, I know exactly which shoebox they are stored in, although I'd have to spend a bit of time going through the shoebox to locate them.

ObiWan27, looks like your first photo of 4 Skyhawks is a differently configured (tanked) group to the aerobatic team? I guess these are the ones who did the first strike demo? (A4 Skyhawks Attack - no.2 on FlyPro)

(A4 Skyhawks Attack - no.2 on FlyPro) I honestly can't tell you about that as I didn't actually take the pics, but the tank configuration is different. I'm not sure if they are all from the 'official day' or whether they may have been a practice day as well? Other forum members who were there may no doubt be able to recall.

I've got some photographs from Air Force Day 1981 too. Dude, it would be awesome to see them!!! What I would like to see as well is any amateur/official video of this airshow or any late 70's or 80's airshows held in NZ prior to WOW taking off. I know I have Kiwi Red's display at Richmond on video tape somewhere. My mate Nigel Milne was flying as Red 6 that day. How awesome that they upstaged the Aussies at their own airshow back then.......

I can't recall which Wanaka show it was (2000 maybe?)but I remember the Roaring Forties doing their version of a roll under break. A bit safer with the slower speed of the Harvard!!

Awesome pics!!! It looks from some of the pics that you and my friend may have taken photos from a similar vantage point. Fantastic record of the day and the arriving aircraft. I see what you mean about the tanks on the F4, must have been a thirsty beast or maybe not kitted up for air to air refueling unlike the F15?

Very very nice pictures... I was there in 1981 thanks to a 2 year during stay at nearby place called Glen Oroua. My grandfather constucted there a house and we lived there for almost two years. I have some pictures from myself at the age of 11 years at Ohakea watching Strikemasters..... For some reason I do remember the Strikemasters better then the A-4's Wow... that where much better days then... Cheers

WOW this brings back great memories as I went to this and was only at intermediate School and it was sheer mind blowing. I still have my programme missing the front page. At the time I loved the big F-4 Phantom. Many many thanks for sharing all these great pics and stories its wonderful.

this also brings back fantastic memories for me too ;D I was in the 5th form & remember the show quite clearly - the F-4 did not fly but I recall queuing to take a few pics inside the cockpit & the F-15 display was most impressive

That Harvard scheme is superb! What's the history behind it, and which airframe is it? I can't quite make out the serial.
Great photos guys! Looks like this was a wonderful show....shame I wasn't born six years earlier!

Do you mean the Harvard in the No. 4 OTU FE-7 scheme? It was NZ1034 and belonged to the Ohakea Museum (or its predecessor) at the time. It was later repainted yellow and gifted to the RAAF Museum. We discussed it last week on the forum as it happens.
